Northwest Innovation Works (NWIW) has selected Technip USA, Inc. to support Open Book Estimation of its 10,000 MTPD methanol production facility at the Port of Kalama.
Houston-based Technip USA, Inc., a global leader in project management, engineering and construction services will provide engineering, procurement and construction cost estimation for the methanol plant at Port of Kalama on FEED phase as the project moves forward.
The facility, a roughly $1.8 billion investment, will create up to 1,000 jobs at the peak of construction, and employ approximately 200 full-time managers and workers.
About the project
The Port of Kalama approved a lease agreement with NWIW in April 2014. An environmental impact statement (EIS) is currently being prepared by the Port of Kalama according to Washington’s State Environmental Policy Act. The draft EIS is expected to be released for public review and comment in March 2016.
Methanol produced in Kalama will be exported to Asia, where it will be used as feedstock to produce olefin, a common ingredient in the manufacturing of everyday products such as medical supplies, safety and industrial equipment, smartphones, kayaks and clothing.
